Do you find yourself turning to food when life is stressful? Do you find it hard to recommit to healthy eating after breaking your boundaries over and over again? Did you know that truth journaling is a powerful tool to help with both of these things?

On today’s episode of the Taste for Truth podcast, I talk with Stacie, a registered nurse, who has been finding it increasingly difficult to handle all of the recent stress in her life without turning to food. Stacie is new to the idea of the renewing of the mind and truth journaling, so we get to go pretty in-depth on the practical steps of truth journaling.

Things We Talked About

  • How to let go of comfort eating
  • How to truth journal
  • How to renew your mind
  • Stress eating, reward eating, and bingeing
  • How to have hope even when we don’t follow our boundaries perfectly

Lies We Discussed on this Episode

  1. Food calms me down after a hard discussion.
  2. Food is a good comforter.
  3. I have no control of my food right now.
  4. Life is so stressful now I can’t follow my diet.
  5. I might as well break my boundaries now and start again tomorrow.
  6. This is going to make me feel better.
  7. This is just what I need.

What a great reminder to truth journal! Especially in the areas of emotional eating which is something that regularly challenges me. I have really had to be honest with myself about overeating at night. Truth journaling will help with this. Thank you for the great content!

Yeah, I agree, Denise. I feel like truth journaling helps to catch all the lies that are making me want to break boundaries or that are making me feel those negative emotions. And also makes me feel more peaceful afterwards almost every single time. :)

Forgot to say, I think your suggestion to maintain weight during a difficult time is so useful! So much better to maintain than stress out over not losing and end up gaining.

I agree! Sometimes we have enough on our plate without also trying to lose weight! It can be hard enough just to stick with regular boundaries when life is stressful. :)
