Happy New Year Everyone! Hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas season enjoying your families and friends! As we head into the new year, growth is on our minds. So today I want to share an opportunity for growth: a free Kindle book for New Year’s goals.
Help for Your New Year’s Goals
I love making goals, but I have a hard time following through on them for several reasons.
First, I forget about them. Second, I lose them! And third, I have a hard time making myself work on them even when I do remember them!
That’s why I need to go back to God again and again for help. One of the ways I do that is with the questions and Bible verses in the Renewing of the Mind Project.
When I don’t feel like working on my goals, this is what I do:
First, I pull out the book and look at the “Starting a Habit and Pursuing a Goal” section in the TOC.
Second, I find the reason I don’t want to work on my goal. Here are a few of the reasons in the TOC:
- This is no fun. I’d rather do something else.
- This is too hard. I can’t do it. Who am I kidding?
- This isn’t going as well as I thought. Is it worth it?
- What if I fail? That will be terrible.
- I’m too busy. I don’t have time to work on this.
- I’ll do it later.
Next, I turn to that page in the book. Then I either visit with God about the questions in that section, journal through them, or pray through the Bible verses in that section with my project in mind.
Often, halfway through the questions, I’ll already start feeling like working on my goal. If that happens, I just stop going through the questions and start working on my goal.
God has used this process to help me finish goals I couldn’t do in my own strength. I’m praying He’ll do the same for you!
If you’d like to give this a try with your own goals, The Renewing of the Mind Project will be free on Kindle 12/31/16 through 1/2/17. You’ll have to click on the link above and hit the “buy now” button, even though the price is free. If it doesn’t work from your Kindle, do it from your computer. If you don’t have a Kindle, you can download a free Kindle app on your computer and read it there.
If you’d like a Bible study to go with the questions, check out the “New Year’s Resolution Bible Study” under the Bible study tab at the top of my blog.
New Christian Weight Loss Podcast Coming!
I also wanted to let you know that I’m working on a new podcast devoted to helping you with weight loss and maintenance! I’ll announce it here when I get it going and also announce it on the Christian Habits Podcast. I’m hoping to get it started by late January or early February. I’ll also continue to do some podcasts with the Christian Habits Podcast as well.
That’s about it. Hope you guys all have a wonderful New Year’s celebration. I’m looking forward to seeing how God will work in each of our lives this year!

I tried to get it on kindle but it says for kindle unlimited which is $9.99 a month, unless I’m doing something wrong. Love all your literature!
Juli says
Martha, I was able to order it on my Kindle with the ‘buy for free’ option. Do you see the same thing on your end?
MArthA says
Only option I have is add to list
Barb Raveling says
Martha, did you try going to the Amazon site on your computer and ordering it with the buy now button on the right side of the page?
Barb Raveling says
Thank you, Martha! Looks like Lou and Juli have answered your questions already. Thanks for letting me know about that! I changed the blog post to let people know they need to hit the buy button. Let me know if it doesn’t work!
Lou says
I did the same, Martha. Hit the “Buy Now” button, select to which device you want it delivered, and it’ll start the download. Think of it this way: you’re buying it for free!
MArthA says
Only option I have is add to list, ugh!

Barb,
Happy New Year! I highly recommend your book Renewing of the Mind Project. :) I go to it often. And even though I have an empty nest, I plan to sign up for the summit. I look forward to hearing your podcast interview. Glad God continues to use you to minister to women as we head into 2017!

Barb, thank you so much for this opportunity. Since I got this on kindle I have been reading and journaling daily. It makes me feel so much more prepared to start the TFT group tomorrow. I never looked at my eating/weight this way before. Everything you write makes so much sense, it’s like you know my story!
Barb Raveling says
Haha, it probably seems like I know your story because I have the same story! Or at least the modified version of it. :) So glad the book is helping, Martha. And that’s great that you started journaling before the class started. I think that will really help! Praying God will bless you through the study!

Love the content of your blog. Losing weight cannot be done right for the child of God without first drawing near to Him. I’ll be reading regularly for my readers. I’ve already linked to a few of your pages and posts!
