Happy New Year Everyone! Hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas season enjoying your families and friends! As we head into the new year, growth is on our minds. So today I want to share two different opportunities for growth: a free Kindle book for New Year’s goals and a free series of interviews on the Internet for Christian women.
Let’s start with the book.
Help for Your New Year’s Goals
I love making goals, but I have a hard time following through on them for several reasons.
First, I forget about them. Second, I lose them! And third, I have a hard time making myself work on them even when I do remember them!
That’s why I need to go back to God again and again for help. One of the ways I do that is with the questions and Bible verses in the Renewing of the Mind Project.
When I don’t feel like working on my goals, this is what I do:
First, I pull out the book and look at the “Starting a Habit and Pursuing a Goal” section in the TOC.
Second, I find the reason I don’t want to work on my goal. Here are a few of the reasons in the TOC:
- This is no fun. I’d rather do something else.
- This is too hard. I can’t do it. Who am I kidding?
- This isn’t going as well as I thought. Is it worth it?
- What if I fail? That will be terrible.
- I’m too busy. I don’t have time to work on this.
- I’ll do it later.
Next, I turn to that page in the book. Then I either visit with God about the questions in that section, journal through them, or pray through the Bible verses in that section with my project in mind.
Often, halfway through the questions, I’ll already start feeling like working on my goal. If that happens, I just stop going through the questions and start working on my goal.
God has used this process to help me finish goals I couldn’t do in my own strength. I’m praying He’ll do the same for you!
If you’d like to give this a try with your own goals, The Renewing of the Mind Project will be free on Kindle 12/31/16 through 1/2/17. You’ll have to click on the link above and hit the “buy now” button, even though the price is free. If it doesn’t work from your Kindle, do it from your computer. If you don’t have a Kindle, you can download a free Kindle app on your computer and read it there.
If you’d like a Bible study to go with the questions, check out the “New Year’s Resolution Bible Study” under the Bible study tab at the top of my blog. Now let’s talk about that free Christian Mom’s Summit!
Inspired Mom Summit (Also Great if You’re Not a Mom!)
When Dr. Eve Rosno contacted me a few months ago to do an interview about mindful eating on her Christian Mom’s Summit, I thought, Oh, that will be fun! So I did the interview and didn’t think another thing about it until she sent me back a list of the Summit topics awhile later.
I looked at that list and thought, I want to go to this summit! There are all kinds of interesting topics whether you’re a mom of young kids, a mom of adult kids, or don’t even have kids! Here are just a few of the 28 topics:
- How to Finally Be Free from Perfectionism
- Too Much Tech: How to Eliminate the New Drug that May be Destroying Your Family
- Digging out of the Clutter: Finding Peace with Less
- How to Find Peace and Joy in the Trenches of Motherhood
- Make Your Marriage Thrive By Understanding the Inner Workings of Your Spouse
- Tips for Crushing your Fitness Goals without Sacrificing Sleep or Family Time
- Eliminate overwhelm, find time for God, and reclaim joy in your motherhood!
- Coping without Technology: Avoiding Facebook and Netflix Self-Medication
The summit begins this Monday, January 2, 2017 with two talks a day and ends Saturday, January 14. I’ll be speaking about mindful eating on Wednesday, January 11.
You can listen to all the talks for free on the day they come out, or you can purchase the whole summit if you want to be able to listen to them at your convenience.
If you’d like to sign up for the free summit, click here.
I’m signed up and looking forward to learning from all of these different women (28 speakers in all)!
New Christian Weight Loss Podcast Coming!
I also wanted to let you know that I’m working on a new podcast devoted to helping you with weight loss and maintenance! I’ll announce it here when I get it going and also announce it on the Christian Habits Podcast. I’m hoping to get it started by late January or early February. I’ll also continue to do some podcasts with the Christian Habits Podcast as well.
That’s about it. Hope you guys all have a wonderful New Year’s celebration. I’m looking forward to seeing how God will work in each of our lives this year!
