I am working through the freedom from emotional eating bible study and I keep getting stuck on what I know I is a lie, but can’t seem to find truth
The lie is: “ God doesn’t really care about what and how I eat. This is such a little thing to bother Him with.”
If you have words of wisdom for me, I would appreciate them.

Hi Kami, I think it’s great that you were able to identify the lie, and I’m guessing different people would answer that differently. It would be interesting to see what others would say. Here’s what I would say for the truth:
God cares about everything in our lives. If he knows how many feathers the birds have and knows when one bird falls, He cares about us and wants to help with our eating habits. That said, I don’t think God is a micromanager – so I think He doesn’t really care that much what we eat on an every-single-bite level.
I do think He cares about certain principles – not constantly eating too much (gluttony), not turning to food for comfort and to cope with life on a regular basis, and not obsessing over what we’re going to eat. Within some of those basic guidelines, I think He lets us make our choices. I guess I would say He also wouldn’t want us to be eating constant junk food because that wouldn’t be good for our health. Do you have any ideas on this, Kami?

I think in one of your podcasts on “The Christian Habits Podcast” Carrie Greenaway explains very well why God cares about our following our boundaries with food. I believe it is Episode 24.

Thanks for that tip, Denise!

That one “little” lie kept me stuck being overweight, anxious about being over weight, and so frustrated. But if you care about what and how you eat, then God does too. Throughout the bible we are told to bring our worries to the lord. “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you” 1 Peter 5:7. Are you worried about what you’re eating and how much your eating? I was because of my weight and health reasons- very real things that needed attention. If you do worry about what and how you eat, chances are those worries plague you at least 3 times a day when you eat. That’s not just a little thing! That’s literally the entire day! He cares for us and wants us to address these issues so you can have some peace Him <3

Thanks for that input, Sarah, and the reminder that God cares for us. And since He does, He’s happy to visit with us about these things!

Great episode! I can so relate to Sarah’s journey. What a blessing to have found your work at her young age! She sounds like she has been working hard and the Lord has been leading the charge. I find that I, too, need to stay close to one of your books to remind me what to do when I get stuck. I am a “forgetter.” I I have a three copies of “The Renewing the Mind Project”, one upstairs by my bed, one downstairs where I study and one in my car for when I’m out! Anyway, what a wonderful testimony Sarah has. Thank you for bringing it to all of us and for all you do.

Yes, I loved her testimony too, Denise, and loved some of the things she did such as her sticker calendar! I also have ROMPs all over the house!
