A few months ago, I interviewed my friend Terry who lost 140 pounds. Rather than doing it on video, I thought, I’ll just tape it and then I can make a podcast.
Little did I know how complicated it was to make a podcast! It’s definitely not for the technologically faint of heart!
But thanks to Terry’s wise words of wisdom that I wanted to share with all of you, I persevered. And now I am excited to introduce my new podcast!
I’ll be doing some interviews, some how-to podcasts, and some podcasts you can use to renew your mind with either on the way home from work, while you exercise or clean your house, or anything else you might like to do. I look forward to walking, exercising, cleaning, and commuting with you!
How to Listen to the Podcast

I’ll try to post a podcast every Wednesday (the interview with my friend is the third episode), at least for the first few months, and will also cut down on my regular posts during this time period so I can put my efforts into the podcast. After it starts becoming routine, then I’ll start doing a mix of regular posts and podcasts.
I hope you enjoy listening to it. This whole thing will be somewhat experimental so please let me know if you have any ideas of how to make the podcasts better! This is definitely a learning-as-I-go experience!
Here’s the first podcast! (Hopefully!) (If you’re getting this post by email, you may need to go to my blog to access it.)

Worked great, Barb. You are a technology super hero. I hope you are having a wonderful July 4 weekend. It’s been an exciting year for you . Well done!
Barb Raveling says
Haha, no one has ever called me that before – I like it! Hope you’re having a good July 4th weekend as well, Linda!
Floyd says
Pretty cool! “The renewing of your mind.” Looking forward to the interviews, a voice makes it more personal, very different. Good for you!
Barb Raveling says
Thanks, Floyd!
Betty Draper says
I love hearing your voice too Barbara. You are a courageous wise hearted woman for taking on the task of a podcast.
Barb Raveling says
Thanks, Betty. I think it will be really fun once it becomes second nature – but at least all of this learning is keeping me young. :)
Karen Norris says
Are the podcasts going to be on iTunes? Am looking forward to many more to come! How often are you planning to release them?
Barb Raveling says
Yes, they will be – probably not for two or three weeks, but I’m planning to get them up there. I’ll be releasing them once a week for the first three months just to get them established and then see how it goes from there.
Barb Raveling says
Hi Karen, the podcasts are now up on iTunes! Here’s the link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-christian-habits-podcast/id899589208
Lee Teague says
Barb I love the podcast- hearing instead of reading is helpful. You mentioned Episode 2 on discontentment. Is that the next podcast?
Barb Raveling says
Yes, I had originally planned to post them all in the same day but then when I realized I didn’t really know what I was doing, I decided it would be better to post them one at a time! :) Episode 2 (on discontentment) will come out this Wednesday and episode 3 (the interview) will come out next Wednesday.

Awesome job! I’m looking forward to the weekly podcasts. With FFEE, Taste for Truth, I Deserve a Donut, and now the podcasts, surely I’ll break free soon!
Barb Raveling says
Thanks, Sara. I’ll still be doing the videos whenever I think of something to say on them. I actually did one today but for some reason it’s not showing up, at least on my YouTube. I tried to fiddle with it to get it to show up but it’s still not happening – unless it’s just my computer!
Senkyoushi says
This is great!!! Thank you so much for doing this.
Barb Raveling says
Thanks – I hope it’s helpful. :)
Cyndi Quattrociocchi says
Barb, I actually would rather listen to an audio then watch a video. I am thankful for this site, it is an encouragement to me. I recently closed my FB account because of all the foolishness that had come to me on my page or by text. It was the best thing I ever did but I am thankful Barb for this site…do you have anything on youtube by any chance?
Barb Raveling says
Thanks, Cyndi. I do have some short videos on YouTube. Here’s a link to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/ideserveadonut.
Cyndi Quattrociocchi says
Thank you so much Barb! I really like your site and I no longer follow programs like Thin Within or Weigh Down Workshop that promote eating between the parameters of hunger and fullness.
The Lord has impressed upon my heart and mind that He is strong enough and great enough to enable me to lose weight without all the issues of being part of a program or a group and He has enabled me to lose 50 pounds since March 10th.
I give Him all the glory and all the praise! I have drawn closer to the Lord than ever before and I am so thankful to have the power of God in my life!
The Lord has revealed to me that He is greater than anything and I have deleted many of my social networks because of the ungodliness and foolishness that goes on; like facebook and twitter.
I appreciate this website and this ministry of yours.
Barb Raveling says
Thanks, Cyndi. I’m glad my blog is helpful. And that’s so great that you’ve lost that much weight and are growing closer to God! What a wonderful thing! I do think God is able to help us without any additional support – you’re a walking example of that! – but sometimes it’s nice to have support too. :) Many people find wonderful support in a community like Thin Within. I’m so glad that you’re doing great, though – so happy for you!
Christina Smith says
Oooh! I’m so excited! It sounds great, Barb! I can’t wait for the next part!
Barb Raveling says
Thanks, Christina!
Judy Muir says
Soooooooooo practical!
Barb Raveling says
Thanks, Judy!
