Do you ever reach for the nearest treat and say, “I’ll just have this one . . .”? Or get on your phone for “just a minute,” then look up an hour later and wonder where the time went? “It’s just one bite” or “It’s not a big deal” can feel true in the moment. But when we’re trying to break a habit or develop a new one, those little exceptions can keep us stuck.

In today’s episode, we’ll talk about why “just this one time” matters more than we think. We’ll look at the role boundaries play in developing habits, why it’s important to renew our minds when we break those boundaries, and how seemingly small choices can keep a new habit from becoming automatic.
Then we’ll renew our minds together. I’ll share some real examples from my own truth journals, and we’ll work through several questions from the Carelessness Questions in The Renewing of the Mind Project.
If you’re struggling with food, your phone, or another habit you’d like to break, I hope this episode will help you replace the lie with truth and turn to God for the help you need to change.
