Do you ever feel like you can’t stop thinking about food? Or do you struggle with obsessing about losing weight, exercise, or eating healthy? If so, this interview with Asheritah Ciuciu on the Christian Habits Podcast will help!
We’ll be visiting about how to overcome food fixation, which she discusses in her new book which goes on sale today, Full: Food, Jesus, and the Battle for Satisfaction. I’ve previewed her book and it looks like a great resource.
Here’s a description of Asheritah’s book on Amazon:
“Have you ever felt stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of overeating, yo-yo dieting, and obsessive thoughts about food?
Whether you feel defeated by your lack of self-control or overwhelmed by thoughts and longings for food, the answer to our food fixation does not lie in the $500 billion global diet industry.
This is not a diet book and it’s not a healthy eating plan. Because at the core, our problem is not really what we eat. It’s why we seek fullness in something that will never satisfy.
Join Asheritah Ciuciu as she shares honestly about her own battles with food and reveals the path to freedom.
You’ll discover the joy of living free from food fixation so you can experience deeper satisfaction in Christ, gain a renewed sense of purpose, and yes, even enjoy good food (without regret).
A healthier relationship with food through a stronger relationship with Christ—that’s the goal of Full.”

Barb, I love this post and your entire blog. The premise of walking with God and deepening your relationship with Him as you lose weiget has escaped the mainstream media and weight loss sites. I just linked to your blog from my moat recent blog post and plan to mention your site. Many blessings!

Bingo! I think you nailed it when you titled a weakness what it is; idolatry. When we place anything, even when we fear something or someone more than we revere our Creator, we’re in for a fall.
I really believe that the only acceptable obsession is God Himself.
A wonderfully honest and powerful testimony. I’m encouraged. I’m always fascinated and amazed that the times of our brokenness are usually the best and defying moments in our life.

Yes, that’s interesting isn’t it – if only we could know the future and the good God is going to bring out of our trials when we’re smack dab in the middle of them! The more that happens though, the more I know He will use my trials for good – which makes it easier to go through them!

This is such a powerful interview! Thank you both!

I’m really excited to see this post. I have been doing your weight loss Bible study along with Asheritah’s book. I thought the two complemented each other very well, and had no idea you had done this interview. I am finding a lot of overlapping truths and tools, as well as some unique things from each of you. I just got a journal, divided it in half and am doing her book in the front, and started yours at the middle. I usually alternate days, but sometimes double up and do both. So far, it is going really well. The hardest part is setting up the foundations: writing out the lies, the truths, setting up boundaries, making Scripture cards, etc. But I believe this can be a good thing, and I have tried to set my goal on not necessarily losing weight, but putting more of God and less food in my life. Turning to Him for joy. Replacing idols with the true source of contentment. I think it can also work to replace other idols. Thank you both for creating your studies!

Hi Jan! I’m so glad the two books are working well together! It was fun doing the interview with Asheritah. I did it right before I started my Taste for Truth podcast so that’s why it’s on the Christian Habits Podcast. It sounds like you’re putting great effort into filling yourself up with and fighting with truth! I love your goal of focusing on putting more of God into your life rather than on just losing the weight. Praying God will bless you through the process!
